The above totaled $21,328.15 ($1818.95 monthly average) is for the year. Car/rv maintance includes the yearly trip to the Ford house for the rv and all oil, washer fluid, car battery, etc. Repairs are not included. This is budged items with gas being at the current priceing.

The following item are listed separately for convience as they are one or two times a year payments.

$75.00 Texas state parks pass

$89.95 Good Sam ERS

$70.00 Escapees membership

$85.00 Escapees mail forwarding

$1015.00 Good Sam warranty

$1114.50 GMAC rv/car insurance (6 mo)

$691.00 Progressive car ins (6 mo)

$1968.00 Progressive rv ins (12 mo)

$594.00 dental

$1221.00 his/her well care Dr expense

$146.50 rv tags

$39.50 rv emission inspection

The above totaled $7352.45 for the year. We filed claims for rv body repair. This "collision" caused a rate change and subsequent new insurer. Two items are not shown.

With the purchase of a new tow vehicle, a new toad brake and tow bar expense was incurred. The Cavalier we still have has 158k miles and was towed with a dolley. The car is now garaged at our "home" in Texas and will be used by Shirley when we get back. The other items are self explanatory.

$2139.00 Rv body repair, incl $1200.00 out of pocket expense. This is our part of the bill.

$1498.92 our expense for jacks, awning, hail damage, windshield repair

$649.49 suv hitch, the tow bar came with the rv

$391.08 suv "Add-a-brake" and new chains, cover ($800.00 for dolley deducted)

$286.81 new microwave/convection oven

$1289.23 new rv parking brake

Total mileage driven by the three vehicles

3610 rv miles 9252 car (till 9/19) 4272 suv (new 9/19)

The rv gets 7 mpg (7k miles with tow in '05), the car 28 mpg and the suv 23 mpg.

The above items added together total the $35,735.13 and are one time only expenses and should not be recurring. The fiberglass repair is counted as a collision on the insurance and did increase our rates and will affect our rate for three years. The lesson here is back up only with another person helping.

The medical expense includes my trip to the Dr when the VA was not feasible to use.
The motel expense is in the rv parking and the eat out is in the eat out.
The boarding of the cat is in the cat expense which is most of his total.

We will need to buy six new tires this 2007 at $300 per plus alignment for the rv. I had the shocks checked at the Ford dealer and they are still good.

This should help those starting out or planning on full timing to set up a budget. As you can see, there are some surprises along the way and should be planned for.

Our goal is to get our monthly expense to the $1500 average plus those yearly items. This will add $617 to our monthly budget. This is a sustainable or renewable amount. The $35,735 is not and will shorten our travel time. We do not have a bottomless pocket like many of you. Any comments can be posted here or via email.
